I graduated with a degree in economics. This was nearly 20 years ago. I had Keynesian economic theory crammed down my throat. It wasn't until my senior year and analyzing market forces in dissertation that I not only left the Democratic party but seen the brilliance and results of the Reagan administration. I had always loved Reagan. I also became an Austrian and fell in love with Milton Friedman. I only wish that Democrats would drop the agenda and come on the correct side of all of this

What if the baker had that money in an old shoebox under his bed and was saving it only for emergency spending? And if his suit needed fixing, he would have repaired it himself rather than buy a new one?

@TheAttackRat you think they vote? at all? citation needed.

Logical but rather childish explanations.

@Rexanglorum how do you figure that? if the man still had 50$ the suit would still be on demand and there would be more wealth created. lol

i love hazlitt, everything he writes is so easy to read and understand.
i just don't understand how its the year 2010 and people are none the wiser to the devestating effects of government meddling with the economy... even bastiat over 150 years ago spelled it out in plain english (well french...) when will people wake up...?
Common sense - it's not so common these days...

It concerns me that perhaps common sense has never been "common," but hopefully every little bit helps...butterflies flapping their wings bring hurricanes and all that.
