  • Thanks for posting this video. I've been looking for more recordings with the pianist Milt Raskin. He's my grandfather and I don't have many recordings of his music since he died 11 years before I was born. If anyone has info about Milt Raskin, please send me a message. Thanks, Neal Raskin

  • @nmraskin Such a great legacy! I'll ask a few friends to see if they know anything :)

  • @nmraskin Neal, have you tried the Milt Raskin papers in the UC Berkley Music Library? There is a lot of his papers, photos and all sorts stored in there!

  • Knockout sound quality and band performance !

  • @iainr222 glad you liked it :D

  • It sounds familiar because the intro sections are stolen directly from Jimmie Lunceford's, 1937 Decca recording of "Pigeon Walk"

  • I've heard this song before. Perhaps it was by Count Basie?

  • Johnnie

What a recording - sounds really good

    Warm regards

    Richard

  • @mojoman4147 If I had the means, I'd leap like a kangaroo, believe me - I'm flat broke.

  • @SwingMan1937 Ah I see!

Haha, I've been collecting for 2 years and been very lucky - but eBay is your friend! Try on the UK site, there's another one for sale now from the same seller I bought mine from!

  • @mojoman4147 Well sure it is - the LP is a mere dub while this one was pressed from the original stamper itself. ;)

25 years of collecting 78's next month and I've yet to snag a test pressing, much less one of Gene Krupa.....
