Air and Sound Pollution created by traffic congestion in downtown Ottawa. Too many trucks and buses are going through the centre of the city. Meanwhile, the nearby Prince of Wales Railway Bridge sits idle. There is NO commuter use on this railway bridge even though it connects the downtown sections of the cities of Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau Quebec. An existing rail line connects it to the existing Bayview O train station, but after 7 years there is no progress on this Transit option! Video by dunrobincastle.com

  • Keep showing the same video over and over. And the buses are not the only polluting vehicles, look at all the cars, trucks, and other vehicles. If It weren't for the buses, traffic would be WORSE. This video is one sided against buses.

  • I agree with you 100 percent. This guy is criticizing one of the solutions. Main solution in fact. He is not mentioning the cars which are the main causes of traffic, and fuel usage. The main name of the game is to get people out of their cars, and on to mass transit. Way to do it is expanding transit service, fare decreases. O train service should be expanded like he wants. Would get great ridership. Lots of buses still would be needed to serve stops, and neighborhoods not near o train stops.

  • I want to drive past this asshole with my subs on max

  • The privilege to qualify to live in the green belt managed by NCC. Help me help you we are all about the environment. Cleaning the air we breathe, Just look at what’s been standing in our way, airadvocates on youtube there are some cool stop motion videos. NCC General Meeting air-medics.ca/newadventures/ web site. Look what they been standing in the way of.

  • He should wear a hat that fits.

  • What's insane is the construction and congestion King Edward has yet to be completed. Setting that aside, as an irrelevant point, I can see why he's discussing the value of an O-Train service but then again some of the pollution would be easily reduced if fewer cars were on the road.

Just think, all of those single vehicle users could be removed and the air would be cleaner with smoother traffic flow... lol

  • @nixter000 Me to about 25yrs ago

  • i used to go to that daycare when i was young :)

  • He's pointing out that it is inefficient to have so many buses bumper to bumper when they all end up in the same place (even though they come from different areas). It would be more efficient to extend the O-Train right in the middle of Gatineau and have everyone ride in one frequent train rather than a bunch of little buses. I think STO started work on their "Rapibus", their own transitway that will be parallel to that same corridor.

  • That's why structural engineers (like me) exist to look at the age of the bridge, and do some necessary upgrades. That would be far less cheaper than building an entirely new bridge. That bridge used to also carry trains a lot heavier than the tiny Bombardier Talent trains of the O-Train.

  • yes but with workers who live in gatineu taking the o-train would be so inneficient figure on average you have to wait 15 mins for a O-Train in otawa gatineu it could be as long as 20-25 minutes!. plus the prince of whales bridge is innactive and we dont even know if the tracks are structural enough to support a heavy train such as the o-train

  • who really cares lol
