nature films are almost 100% set up. This segment would have been for sure. A wild cat would not have given up a meal like that or took a chance like that for no reason.

Most of the time you would be correct. However, bobcats are known to kill animals with no intent on eating them. It may be a territorial thing. They also seem to play with freshly killed animals they do intend to eat. It seems cruel but nature can be harsh sometimes.
