Age Concern Oldham are restoring the former Independent Methodist Chapel in George Street, Oldham for use as a heritage centre and function space. In June 2010 the chapel was surveyed by APR Services Ltd to produce a record of the building and to enable cad drawings to be made.
The chapel was built in 1815 but ceased to be a place of worship in 1990. Age Concern Oldham are preparing plans to repair, conserve and adapt the chapel for use as a heritage centre and to provide facilities to hold functions, events and meeting rooms. Their inter-generational programmes will be held in the lower ground floor, originally constructed as 'cellar dwellings' below the chapel.
The video shows the process of scanning the building and the resulting fly-around movie generated by the 'point cloud' data. The video was taken by Andrew Fielding. More information of the restoration project will be provided at www.oldham-ageconcern.co.uk
