Reza Aslan voices his support for the Global Day of Action in solidarity for the People of Iran on Saturday July 25th. People in more than 60 cities around the world will participate in this unprecedented wave of global citizen activism.

Other Nobel Peace Laureates, prominent Iranian poets & artists, and many others support the global day of action: Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Shirin Ebadi, Sean Penn, Dariush, Maz Jobrani, Betty Williams, Mairead Maguire, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Rigoberta Menchu Tum, Simin Behbahani, and Ismael Khoii.

ebila 2000 your comment to me on my page was actually civil....why the need to be so aggressive? For someone who hides their own identity do you think it is reasonable to ask others to reveal theirs? I think Dr. Aslan writes good books too. I merely question the sources of funding for this group? The decision makers? Why they call the police on some demonstrators & whether Dr. Aslan may be motivated as a believer to see Islam as a way of life working somewhere? You answered none of these.

Some of the demonstrators in some cities were turned away because they were not "deemed to have the correct political convictions". Does anyone know what is going on here? Where does the money this group raises go to? We all understand Reza Aslan as a believer would want an Islamic regime to survive somewhere...& where better than his native Iran. But it is a crying shame if the group is using divisive tactics at a time like this.
