"A Place For Me" by Comateens

In 1990, the Comateens adapted the song "Fais Moi Une Place" by French songwriters Julien Clerc and Franciose Hardy for the Virgin compilation album Diversions. "A Place For Me" was the last song to be recorded by Comateens, and was a European hit for them in the early 90s. The video was directed by Vincent Warin and filmed at various (chilly) locales in NYC.

This tune bears more than a passing resemblance to the better known 'Let It Be Me' with music by Gilbert Becaud, so Julien Clerc and Francoise Hardy didn't have to look too far to secure the popularity of their own musical digression.

Still, the Comateens' recording of 'A Place For Me' really bounces along and is guaranteed to lift the spirits with its jolie melodie.

Their version ( a 1990 European-wide hit) deserves to be more widely known, so well done for uploading it to You Tube.

Chanson française d'amour chantée avec excellence.. décrite avec tant de beauté. Trop belle chanson émettant tant d'émotions pour être chantée dans une autre langue. Cette version est trop nulle et ridicule.. enlève l'émotion, et le charme d'une vraie chanson d'amour.

N'oublions pas que cette chanson est avant tout un poème tellement bien écrit et ce texte doit être chanté comme le chante aussi remarquablement bien Julien Clerc par sa version originale, destiné à lui-même . Beaucoup plus profonde, touchante et si belle par des mots tellement riches qu'est la langue française Pure et Magique. Trop belle quel massacre pour cette belle chanson

Tellement mieux que la version originale de Julien Clerc. D'ailleurs, COMATEENS a commis d'autres petits bijoux pop ou électro-rock sous ce pseudo ou de WEST & BIRD suite au décès du guitariste Oliver North.
