http://youtube.com/davos 31.01.2009 Arthur Yap, Secretary of Agriculture of the Philippines speaks about the environment and agricultural sustainability.
It is true the rice markets in the Philippine is over-priced. It is not true the Philippin is lack of supply rice. The over-pricing of rice in the Philippines is due to monetary policy of the Philippine Central Bank. The keeping of over-pricing is we go along with the global crisis because of our weak peso purchasing power against many other foreign currency. Overpricing of rice is inflation in our monetary system. They should address this first why our local markets of rice is over-priced & etc
Reuters is corect to say that rice in the Philippines is 45% over priced...the world market price of rice was down from $22/bbl to $12/bbl which means supply is more than the demand then how come the price of rice in Philippines still keep rising . Again Arroyo's administration is worse than Marcos regime ...corruption at the expense of little people only. The same thing with oil from $150 to $60 still the price now is 75 percent of the highest price we paid of 50 pesos/kilo. Why? CORRUPTION!!
shokot! as if philippines lang ang namroblema sa rice shortage.....whole asia po nambroblema sa rice shortage.....siya rin ba ang dapat sisihin sa rice shortage ng asia?....haizt tao nga naman
I believed in any past and the present government didnt do any concrete plan and acted to a rigid implementation for the long term stabilization on agricultural sector...Rice shortage? Whats gonna happen for years to come?... good technocrats we have... but always come as usual trademark , a bad governance, shame on you...
Dillusional! This guy speaks crap! all rubbish! he talks about change and everything...but nothing ever changed in the agriculture landscape of the Philippines, moreso in his department! didnt you all remember that the so called "rice shortage" in the Philippines during 2008 happened in his tenure as agriculture secretary?! more corruption and irregularities happened since he took the helm of this agency!
err, i can even bet that this loony used the peoples taxes to make that trip to Davos!
You need to look at ways too cheaply (Carbon based rocks) cool the ground which prevents soil erosion, locks water, and encourages good Plant thermodynamics.
