In Sept 2009, hurricane Jimena devastated Guaymas and area in Mexico.
Kentwood Alliance Church assembled a team (MOM) to drive and distribute donations from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada to Guaymas. Due to the local generosity, they managed to fill 17 and a 28 foot trailers by Sept 29, with new and used cloths, tents, house ware, blankets, hygiene products, school supplies and toys etc.
Sept 30, team drove the two trailers to Mexico. After complications with the Mexican boarder; the journey took 48hrs.
For 6 days, they distributed the donated items, as well as food/water purchased by the donated cash from Canada, also from the Mexican army.
The team arrived safe and sound, back in Canada the morning of Oct 9.
Thank you to all who donated and volunteered to the mission.
