Wow what a shallow "lady". It's just hair, let him do what he wants with it. It doesn't make or break a man, so just love him for he is. Let him be the way he wants to be, don't try to make some conformity thing, those times are gone. People can have any style they want.

BB, SM, I love you both.
He buzzes his hair, while she liked it before. But he DIDN'T hurt her on purpose: Now he knows, and next time he takes her wishes in account. Isn't that sweet?
And that's all she ASKS of him, WITHOUT DEMANDING anything.
BEING CONSIDERATE OUT OF LOVE is much much better than having one of those "what have you done for me lately" relationships; where both selfishly DEFEND THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS.
(Save the latter for divorce ;-)

I think you're being incredibly judgmental over something petty. Yes, he originally told you he wouldn't do it. But it's only a haircut, something as you said that you would grow back. The tattoo argument isn't valid as they are (mostly) permanent. He's a grownup and shouldn't need permission to make the small changes like a haircut. The more you nag him about his decisions, the more he'll resent your input on ANY decisions in the future.

that sentence, "navigating a mine field" is a quote that my husband uses very often in regards to our marriage :)

hrm... promising you wouldn't do something and then doing it. Point against Will. But it looks good, so point for Will. I'd normally give a half point, but I don't wanna deal with fractions.
I'm gonna have to call this a draw.
Now if you'd actually said "obey" in your vows... then Will would be screwed.
For the record, had you asked me to dye my hair I would have said no.

For the record, I would have never asked you to dye your hair. So there.
But then again, you also said you weren't going to get a buzz cut...so how can I believe you?
