Make sure the ball is inflated fully. I had troubles balancing until I added more air to the ball.

The calorie burn will definitely be more than 50 but you'd need to either manually measure your heart rate and figure your calorie burn or invest in a heart rate monitor. I don't exercise at all with my heart rate monitor.

Not very many, maybe 25-50, If you're wanting to burn calories you definitely want to be doing cardio workouts like walking/jogging or bike etc.

I did this twice through and my heart monitor said I burned 123 cals.
