  • there is nothing funny about this if you know the background to it...Zaire had lost 9-0 to Yugoslavia in their previous game and Zaire's brutal dictator, Mobutu, sent his guards to the squad hotel to threaten the players, telling them they would not be able to return home if they lost by more than three goals against Brazil. It was 3-0 when Mwepu 'cracked' and kicked the ball away. It was down to pure fear. It's actually one of the most distressing moments in WC history, not funniest.

  • Mwepu was part of one of the finest clubs in Africa in the 70's, took part to numerous continental competitions and was not at his first free-kick as a defender; he DID VERY WELL KNOW the rules of the game! A sound mind should try to find an answer to this simple question: WHY did the player kick the ball away before the free-kick was taken? Obviously, all the people laughing and making stupid comments are not able to UNDERSTAND the frustration and anger of Zaïre's players at that WM 74...

  • ¡Menudo crack..!!

Quién no reaccionaría igual?

  • ¿Spaniards?, nationality doesn't have anything to do with this. They're only a group of stupid journalists trying to fill hours of TV. That a Spanish is stupid does not mean that the rest are, just as I hope that your stupidity does not affect to the rest of the people in your country, because it could give rise to a 'collective future' plenty of assholes like you.

  • only spaniards would be so misinformed to say that he didn't know the rules... of course they wouldn't bother looking at the background of why this happened... they are just looking to have a laugh at other people's expense

  • lol stupid

  • briljant, perfetto, brilliant. leipe shit ouwe.

  • no sabes ni lo que dices, amargado.tienes un problema d personalidad muy grande si dices eso.no vuelvas a escribir

  • Haha, poor Zaire team. To be under so much pressure. Sports and politics do not mix. Players should play for the love of the game and not for fear. That being said, that's pretty funny. It makes me want to try it too, haha.

  • @stadioazteca I agree with you. I probably would have done something similar (or even more stupid) if I had a barrel on my and (worse yet!) my family's head too.

We shouldn't be laughing at these guys

  • @stadioazteca

He did stupid thing, he should took a red card! It should be worse for the team!!! i_i

    *sorry for my english :x
