liszt is a legend, but please don't forget beethoven wrote the original version of this symphony, Beethoven is just as much of a legend as liszt.

@gupyandgipy No, it was because in Liszt's (and Beethoven's) times, there were no means of recording and transmitting music as sound. Liszt was remarkable in his talent for constructing piano arrangements so that those without access to an orchestra could thrill to the magisterial transcendence of this music. Few composers have ever had Liszt's talent for turning the fortepiano into a self-contained orchestra. Whatever you say about transcriptions, this is a masterpiece!
