My first lesson on the Robinson R-22 helicopter. I amazed the instructor because I became the "king" of hovering in just 5 minutes! I took the pictures with a Contour HD (on the landing gear) and a GoPro Hero in the cockpit. The video was taken in January 2011 in the region of the Valais, Switzerland.

  • @gmoneyr1 Yes flying a helicopter for the first time is a strange experience. I had 200 hours as a glider pilot but a glider seems more "logic" to fly. A helicopter is like a piece of soap in a tub, it doesn't stop to go in all directions :-) I hope that you will have pleasure with your license, please post some videos, I would be happy to see you in action ! Greetings from Switzerland!

  • @Herik77 Of course I was joking! :-)

  • @makilajj Not worth me wasting my time but thank you anyway. Ive got much more important things to do and dont mean to offend, I just aint buying it! Great marketing tho if someone believes him!

  • Thanks for the answers, makilajj.

  • @eternalzero13 I know, I'm a former glider pilot :-)

  • @skipsassy1 I have been in the world of helicopters for many years (as a passenger or as a filmmaker). As a long time fan of helicopters, I had accumulated a lots of knowledge about helicopter principles. As a former glider pilot, I knew the meaning of smooth moves on a stick :-)

Now you are right. Flying helicopters need time and money. People who want to fly must make sacrifices. But it's such a beautiful experience.... I would advice everybody to have an initiation flight !

  • @jachxz Almost everybody is able to fly a helicopter after a good training. Now about the dangers of helicopters : zero risk doesn't exist of course! But hellicopters are very reliable. The vast majority of accident causes are linked to pilot errors, such as bad estimation of wind in mountainous terrain, flying in bad weather, bad preparation of the flight, overestimation of own capabilities, tiredness, stress, use of alcohol and medication... All accidents have 3 causes or more in fact.

  • @ makilajj.... You're very welcome.
