This was taken in September of 2008 when Jake was 4 and a half years old. He is autistic and non-verbal.

Jake fell off a chair and broke both bones in his lower arm. He handled everything so well, even though we don't really know how much he understands of what happened or what we explained to him.

This video, taken without sound, shows Jake sitting on a window ledge at the hospital. He flicks his fingers and holds his eyes shut.

I''ve spent a lot of time on YouTube looking for videos of other autistic children to try to plot my child on the spectrum, but unfortunately, I mostly come across videos of still shots with sad, weepy music in the background. Without the title advising me that the child is simply autistic, I'd have thought he or she must have died! I hope my videos can help other parents of autistic children by demonstrating how our son acts and how is autism is apparent.

  • !!***NOTE: TURN YOUR SPEAKERS OFF BEFORE PLAYING THIS CLIP***!!

Regarding the AUDIO in this clip: It would seem the camera (or computer used to process the video) was defective, producing pulses exactly a second apart, and with a negative DC bias in between the pulses (this is why a click occurs whenever starting and stopping the playback).

  • @schwei56 While that sounds ever-so-clever, if you read the details that I wrote below the video, you'll see that the video was taken without sound. In other words, I used a camera that does not produce audio. At all. Not defective, simply without that feature.

And there's really no need to TURN OFF YOUR SPEAKERS, the sound is just a bit of clicking. You make it seem like it nearly deafened you.

  • Weird question, but do his hands/fingers ever seem unusually cold?

  • @yeahtoast22 Nope. Why?
