john butler mystery man rough cover

i wanted to find out the tuning and how to play this song so i figured it out roughly.
i didnt know the part after the first chorus or the instrumental bit properly so i just made it up as i went along plus i havent learnt the ending yet.
i dont know if john butler uses a capo on his guitar for this song i had to use one because if i tuned my guitar to that pitch the stringwould have snapped but its just as good with the capo.

How did you learn to play this? by ear? Cos i'm a massive JBT fan, but i haven't been able to find any accurate guitar tabs for it, that are in open C tuning.

@Foyman93 this isnt in open c by the way and i listen to it and see what guitar he used either 6 or 12 string because its easy to hear and then i can figure out what string plays what but the hardest thing was figuring the tuning for this it took me almost 15-30 minutes but just listen to a song and see if u can figure it out just basically and then improve and try it with different strings and see if you can improve it everyone can do it man just keep trying dude

haha well i have two 12 strings and the one in this video is my terrible one haha its a stretton payne one but it isnt that nice to play but shows how much elixir strings make any guitar have a nice tone

@andyknelson yeah i hadnt seen any videos when i did this but it in the right key in this video just out of tune but this guitar cant be tuned to a C because my strings will snap but yeah in the other video he used C tuning with a capo on 2nd fret

@cactusjam yeah its different to CGCGCE ive tried in it open C but boy is it hard to do and sound good the tuning is CGDGBD with a capo on the second fret but when i worked it out my guitar couldnt be tuned that high and i hadnt seen any videos of this song so thats why in this video here my guitar is tuned to like A with capo on 5th fret haha but if u use the tuning and capo position i said further above u should be fine
