Revenge. Best served cold. Here are ten stories involving most of the deadly sins: greed, lust, envy, wrath, and pride. Strange stories woven in time and place from Ancient Greece to 1929 Odessa, Italy to the modern United States...stories that mix reality, mythology, legend, half-humans and the inhuman...
With the skill of the Borgia, Allyson doles out vengeance in the strangest of places and circumstances.
Bull Running for Girls, Allyson Bird's debut collection, won the prestigious British Fantasy Society Award for Best Collection in 2009. Wine and Rank Poison consolidates her place in the weird fiction genre.
"Allyson Bird is a rare bird indeed. An original voice in a world of plain vanilla. She rides some dark waves with grace and heart full of light and shadow. If there's any justice, she on her way to real recognition." -- Joe R. Lansdale.
'Ally Bird's writing is as clean and crisp as a scalpel blade. Her stories have a firm sense of place and verisimilitude; it's as if we can see the locations she writes about through the eyes of a resident. It is also both refreshing and essential to see a female author embrace the dark side with such empathy and unflinching bravery.' -- Gary McMahon
'The stories are filled with great description, genuine characters, believable dialogue and intricate plots. If Allyson had chosen to call herself a writer of adult fiction rather than a horror writer, her name would now be known across the land. But well done to her for sticking to her principles. People need to realise there is horror in just about everything they read - from Cornwell to Murakami - and if they're struggling to do so, then starting with Allyson's book wouldn't be a bad idea.' -- Shaun Hamilton

@NormRubenstein Thanks for explaining that.

@666slink Allyson has, of course, signed her books. Joe Lansdale, who wrote the Intro, has also signed as well. The Deluxe edition's additionally signed by the artist, Dani Serra.

You post the most interesting trailers for books. Sounds like a promising collection of stories. The only thing.....why wouldn't Allyson Bird sign her own book? That seems like it would have more sentiment and mean more. Don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed all of Joe R. Lansdale's work that I've read but if I wanted his signature, I'd buy one of his books. Sorry.....that just seems really odd for some reason.
