California Needs Common Sense ... Not Just Cuts

Budget cuts mean kids will lose health care, students will miss out on college, and elderly Californians will be forced into nursing homes. We need balance, cooperation, and common sense.

There are roughly two million adults in Calif who are unemployed or grossly under-employed. Roughly one-half million of these are hard-core inner-city unemployed, who burden the state with huge costs in criminal justice, incarceration, property damage, illegitimate parenthood, AFDC, etc. These people need "tough love" from a state government that is now broke. Message: "No work= No eat"--"The bus for the Salinas broccoli fields leaves at 8AM tomorrow. Be there--sober!"

I am sorry that California is in this crisis, but I cannot support any more taxes for your struggling businesses and middle class. When I add up all of the EXISTING fees, assessments, sales taxes, inventory taxes, surchages, property taxes, and income taxes, I easily conclude that Californians are already paying higher than average combined taxes, compared to most other states. The simple fact is that you have too many residents (legal & illegal) who are not producing wealth.

What about Octo mom?. They gave tens of thousands of dollars so an unemployed unmarried woman could have 8 babies.
