I don't agree... Back then it was so much more individualistic. No internet, no easily available DVDs - man, back then each city had its own style. Nowadays styles break all geographical boundaries and are disseminated so easily through new technology that people everywhere are copying much more easily and more widespread.
Plus, here they're all just busting out crowdpleasers... I mean, c'mon, it's TV - Joe Blow watching on a Saturday night doesn't know jack shit about style or innovation...
