hi divine maddog - the plane was a right off but no one was hurt in the mine that started the fire, trouble is no one used to patrol outside camp so was easy for the mine to be laid, also one has to still keep safe from un marked mine fields that the ruskies left behind from their days out there, they just put mines down willy nilly, several British soldiers have been seriously injured, even killed, but the ruskies mines.. fuckin' commies, they just don't give-a-shit..

Instead of playing with guns why you don't destroy all the opium fields in that region. Easy to find a opium field with satellite ... then go with drone airplane and destroy all of the opium there. You will finish the war soon and you will solve the problem of drugs in our streets (90% of ww heroin is coming from Afghanistan). Stop to play the war and start to solve the real problem !

hi Alexdra - my thoughts exactly, but no need for satelitte's, the troops walk through the fields on daily patrols. When I said the same about destroying the poppy crop was told it is the locals livelehood, I said fuck that, get them to grow actual crops of food and then sell at the local markets to get money for other things, and feed your family without the use of the poppy.

Well apart from all the oil under them Opium is about the only thing Afghanistan has to support itself. I don't think the Afghanistan farmers support the Taliban i think its more the fear of what will happen if they don't give them what they want.

What everyone needs to remember is the Civilians get punished/killed if they talk to ISAF or don't do as the Taliban "ask"
