Video shows a Middle Fossa surgical approach to remove an Acoustic Neuroma. The 15-gauge (1.9mm) NICO Myriad is used to delicately remove tumor around Cranial Nerve VII, which controls facial functions, and Cranial Nerve VIII that controls hearing and vestibular functions. A Middle Fossa surgical approach is one of the most complicated approaches used by surgeons, but can be a more frequent approach option when using the Myriad -- shown in this video as safely accessing the tumor through a narrow corridor, removing the tumor with precise control, and improving the extent of resection so that a gross total resection may be achieved. An Acoustic Neuroma is a slow-growing benign tumor of the nerve that connects the ear to the brain. This nerve is located behind the ear adjacent to the brain stem.
