Rushnut, here's the thing: firearms to me are a hobby I'm passionate about. I love my guns, mainly because of their historical significance. But something that's necessary to your support of your family (be it your collective bargaining unit, or whatever) trumps your hobbies.
And-as I also indicated-for the NRA to trash a union of its members is pretty self-defeating: Second Amendment rights are strengthened through the addition, not the division, of NRA members.

the media has played out the "assault weapon" name so much and they dont even know what it is. most weapons they are banning are semi auto weapons that are based off assault weapons. a true assault rifle is one that shoots an intermediate caliber with the ability to select semi, auto or burst fire. so this ban is taking away rifles that are no more deadly than a non "assault weapon" look a like.
