Burst Mode is where it's at! This is my DRSSTC MiniCoil. 6" secondary, strike target is 15" away. Overcurrent control set to 300A.

Interrupter is set to approx:
BPS = 300Hz
PW = 75uS
Burst Mode enabled.

  • Yes, that is pretty "the main difference."

    See Steve Ward's website (YouTube won't let me post the link) but a google search "Steve Ward Tesla" will return it as the first entry. It has pretty much everything you'd want to know.

  • nice! whats the difference between SSTC and DRSSTC?

  • The fundamental difference between an SSTC and DRSSTC is that the Solid State Tesla Coil (SSTC) is driven by a single coil or primary. The Dual Resonant SSTC (DRSSTC) has a tank capacitor in series with this primary coil. So, if I removed this capacitor, my DRSSTC would be an SSTC.

    Also, most SSTC's run continuously. DRSSTC's run at 10% or lower duty cycle. What does all that mean? SSTC's have short, hot, fat sparks. DRSSTC's have long, more conventional sparks.

  • Hey! Thanks!!!

  • OK, so the difference between SSTC and DRSSTC is the tank cap and a lower duty cycle, thus making the sparks more like the traditional SGTC, Right?
