why not just finish the last 50 feet to the chopper instead of deploying the Robin go cart

The Batcycle that was seen in the movie and the second and third seasons of the TV show was not the Batcycle that appeared in the Season One episode "Not Yet He Ain't".
In that episode, the Batcyckle looked different, and the sidecar couldn't be ejected.

Burt also got 3rd degree burns on his arms while they were filming the first episode where fireworks were shooting out of the Batmobile. He was supposed to be laying in the car unconscious and sparks were landing all around him burning through the costume and into his arms.
