  • People in the North were just as racist as people in the South, but the only difference is that the North didn't believe in slavery. Here an analogy: Some people are against dogs being chained up (north's attitude towards blacks) and some people believe that the dog should be chained (south's attitude towards blacks) But there is a common concept shared by white northerners/southerners: blacks are dogs and are inferior. This is why they didn't accept Virgilia's marriage to a black man Grady.

  • The mightness of Orry-George's friendship amazes me. I wish there were more such friendships in real life.

  • @jackthenigger I find it interresting that you say that, is it from the series? if thats the case youre a moron

  • @dinosammy1 why? hes completely right in what he says

  • @bravesfanforever31 You are an idiot

  • @plantationmuscleboy You are a moron

  • @charlotteguy7

to be honest there wasn't much difference between the life of a slave and the life of a worker in the major cities with the only exception that they were free to leave when they wanted and they couldn't be fysically punished. However, all jobs for the lower classes were the same, miserable thing.

That being said i would rather work like a dog but be free.

  • @KentuckRoad -- Listen to yourself here. "... And even allowed them to grow a garden." SERIOUSLY? ALLOWED THEM TO GROW A GARDEN? Tell me, exactly how would you feel if someone ALLOWED YOU TO GROW A GARDEN? Would that endear them to you? Would you think it a wonderul way to live?

  • I cant believe John Brown was a white man he had to be half black for what he did. The white are genetically evil.

  • @bravesfanforever31 I think it was also because of economic reasons. It is mentioned somewhere in the beginning of the series when a guy (his name was Fiske I believe) from West Point hates Orry because he's a Southener. He's against slavery not particulary because of humanitary reasons but because his parents' farm couldn't face the concurrence from the South. I don't know if you've seen the movie Glory? It shows the Northern point of view towards black people and it's pretty racist too. :p

  • @plantationmuscleboy You got a sweetheart, I got a moron, I feel bad. :( LOL You have some good points there though in both your posts. As a child of the South, with ancestors to appreciate their way of life, we all should be inspired to be the best we can be. Just because I dream of the Plantation Days of my ancestors, doesn't make me a bad person. That is just my favorite period of history. The Old South is always in my mind. Everyone should be proud of their ancestry, Black or White!

  • @gabrielle48174 I'm just an honest guy. We all feel protected now that we know Youtube has a user that can both diagnose esteem levels and determines where the bar is set for screen-names. As for the dialog, I'm saddened that you won't be engaging in intellectual conversation. You had so much to gain! This ideology of playing a victim all the time must make you feel inferior. Like the southern planter, I'm inspired to be the best of the best. Plus, we smell and look much better than most.
