Five people to be tried for providing information to foreigners
TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (MNA) -- Iran has announced that five people arrested for infiltrating into some of the country's governmental organizations and providing information to foreign entities will soon be brought to trial.
These people passed information about Iran's space and cyber programs, defense capabilities, and economy to foreign entities, Tehran Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi told reporters on Wednesday.
Their dossiers will soon be handed over to the Judiciary, he added.
He said the enemy is seeking to lure Iranian employees into disclosing the information of their organizations.
The United States has made great efforts in this regard, and officials should take precautions against people who may want to provide information to foreign countries, he stated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said Mehdi Hashemi, the son of Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, will be arrested as soon as he enters Iran.
And reformist Mahdi Shakouri-Rad, a former MP and a member of the banned Islamic Iran Participation Party, has been arrested for security reasons, he added.
