  • "I will refuse to buy insurance, I do not plan to pay a fine an will be visiting my grandchildren from behind bars I suppose."

How brave, if not for a false cause.

But firstly, you should reconsider breaking tax laws. It's not American to defy tax laws made by your elected representatives.

Secondly, there is no jail penalty for not paying the tax penalty. It explicitly says in the bill that you can't be punished for defying the law. It's an unenforceable law; just a well-intending threat.

  • The bill is simply not unconstitutional; period. Find a different way to argue for your pathetic agenda.

"If they are unwilling to do so they should be impeached and removed from office."

Er, are you that stupid? You can't impeach and remove a Senator or Representative without a 66% majority in both houses... And the majority of the Senators and Representatives obviously voted for the bill. So how likely do you think it is that they'll be impeached?

P.S. You can't impeach anyone for voting for an unconstitutional law. It's the Supreme Court's duty to nullify it if it is, though.

  • "Forcing people to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional"

It's not "forcing". They just increased taxes by 2.5% for the general population and will provide a 2.5% tax credit for anyone who purchases health insurance.

Taxes are obviously Constitutional ("The Congress shall have the Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises, to pay the Debts and to provide for the common Defence and general WELFARE of the United States;") and so are tax credits, are they not?

  • "The Constitution doesn't give the federal government direct authority to compel the purchase of health insurance."

The same way it doesn't give the federal government direct authority to compel the purchase of vehicle insurance?

P.S. The federal government also gives tax credits to those who go for higher education. Does that mean it's "compelling" them to go to college, and is that unconstitutional?

  • also some of you people need to look up the definition of socialism because you clearly have no idea what you are talking about and are glued to fox news all day.

  • i suppose you people are also against buying auto insurance because this is exactly the same thing. you dont have it you get fined for not having it when pulled over. if you get in a car accident you will have to pay a shit ton more just by the fact that you dont have auto insurance.

  • Forcing people to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional, that is just one thing wrong with this bill. It is about control. The Senators and Representatives take an oath to uphold the constitution. If they are unwilling to do so they should be impeached and removed from office.
