I'm not sure what you meant by your question, but I can vouch 100% that the prop screwdriver they use in Doctor Who (From Tennan't first season to the 2009 xmas specials) IS the toy one with the sound-chip removed. they add the buzzing in post.
you can see it's the toy version in the clip from Voyage Of The Damned where you can see the screwholes. teehee

@cenobitehell the prop is different to the toy, as it is slightly smaller and the button for the light is on the slidy switch bit, rather than the blue bit on the side, meaning it can be operated no matter how much it is extended (the toy has to be fully extended or not at all). Also, there aren't any screwholes visible on the toy unless you remove the cover for the slidy button.

@CaptainAndyman yeah they did modify the toy for filming as a prop to make it easier, it doesnt make the buzzing sound and you can have the light on whether the button is held down or not. i'm not sure where they put the switch, whenever i've seen it switched on or off it's always been taken away by a production assistant to be done off-set, maybe that's what the new screw hole is for.
but it is the toy casing
