@Loony3107 Yes I love Germany too, and it's such a beautiful country with wonderful people. I was just trying to explain the psychology of how Germans feel. I guess I don't completely understand as much as you do, since I am not German. But my boss told me a sad story about the time she visited America, and an old American woman said mean things to her about Germany's past. She almost started crying. So I thought that it's unfair for Germans to have to live under the shadow of the past.

@belovedpeartree all I was trying to say is that most people of the young generation (and well- older ppl too, even my grandparents who were kids in ww2) in Germany are proud of many things in/ about their country, it's not just soccer that makes them display patriotism.

The things that happened were terrible and of course are in everyone's minds, but thanks to what happened/ changed afterwards, the pride came back a lot quicker than some might think. Yes I'm German and happy about it ;)
