This video will show you how to get Cubase and Reason to talk to each other.

Reason as I use it can be used for their instrumental sounds, and is a mini-sequencer in itself.

Please note that this video assumes a minor degree of familiarity with both software packages. Other videos will be uploaded going into more indepth topics such as 'MIDI editing,' etc.

Instructions are as follows:
• Load up Cubase first
• Load up Reason second
• Create a new project in Cubase
• At top, click on 'Devices'
• Click on 'Reason Rewire' in the list
• Turn about sixteen power buttons on in the list [1]
• Add a MIDI track in Cubase
• In Reason, an an instrument track
• In Cubase, select the instrument track on the left hand side [2]
• Play on the keyboard to check sound is coming through.
• You're ready!

1 = Rewire channels correlate to the 'Input/Output' tracks on the 'Audio Interface' in Reason. If you just want to use the first input/output track, load up a mixer in Reason (will be covered in another video).
2 = You may want to rename tracks in Reason to 'Piano' (as an example), for easier selection in Cubase, because some instrument patches tend to open up tons of Reason 'devices,' which lists up in Cubase. In a mass of patches to choose from, just select the one which is named the one you've chosen (such as 'Reason Piano.') You can rename Reason tracks by double clicking the white labels usually found at the top left of the instrument 'device' in Reason.
