This is vs. San Diego in 1973.

It's amazing his neck wasn't broken on this play.

  • Dieken didn't get called for holding on that play? :p

  • @6828Lu If you're talking about the right tackle, it would be one of the few times he wasn't caught. "Holding, number 73, offense," was a frequent referee's call in those days. ;)

  • @halperry Exactly what I was talking about! He seems to have held up nicely despite the embarrassment, though. LOL

  • Remember the three (non-racist) "little monkey" comments made by Cosell? Who was #2 about??

#1. "That little monkey. The theory was that he was too small for pro football." - 08/29/1972 Chiefs @ Giants preseason HOF game (re: Mike Adamle - white guy)

#2. "Look at that little monkey run!" (re: an unknown player, white or black? game, punt/kickoff return?) GREG PRUITT???

#3. "That little monkey gets loose doesn't he." - 09/05/1983 Dallas @ Washington (re: Alvin Garrett - black guy)

  • I would like my head back please.
