  • i take care of a greek woman, she's in her 90's and she has alzheimers disease. she barely speaks anymore, but she sings these beautiful greek folk songs, just like this one. it's always such a pleasure to listen to her sing!

  • @thesebananatrees P.S. I know she will be very grateful for your care and I too will pray for her:)

  • Hey God!!! bring me my summer back so I can visit "thalassaki mou"

  • IT DOESN'T MATTER MACEDONIAN, GREEK SERBIAN..!... WE ARE ALL BROTHERS BY GOD...!!!...NICE MUSIC!!

  • It sounds very beautiful, the voice much like Fiona Ruggeberg of Faun.

  • @Akor76 FAKEMACEDONIAN U MEAN!! THANK YOU!!! HAPPY 2012!!! :)

  • @thesebananatrees So very kind of you. I am young but in my wisdom I know you will be greatly blessed for this deed. I wish you all my blessings.

  • who is this sung by? is there an mp3 available or source to download the music from?

  • I love listening to this after listing to irish and arabic folk music

  • @STAVRE166 the lyrics of th greek song are talking about sea your country havent sea its mainland. also it comes from an island of aegean itso profound. it would be more logical to have more similarities with turkish aegean music than with a slavic one.

  • Who is singing this?

  • @akibass I don't know who is the sculptor, but this statue is the Ancient Greek God Poseidon, the God of Sea. The video presents this picture for this music, because "Thalassaki", is a diminutive for the word "Thalassa" means "Sea". The song's lyrics are very "strong". The singer begs the sea not to smother her husband and bring him back to their island.

  • *sigh* annother greece/macedonia fight? when will you people learn to enjoy the music instead

  • IM PROUD T BE GREEK

  • @akibass Hello, this sculptor is Poseidon, the ancient greek god of Sea!

  • Can someone tell me please, where stands this excellent statue, who is the sculptor?

  • I don't see how you can compare this to arabic music. This sounds like traditional balkan music, like bulgarian music or serbian folk music. Arabic music does not sound like this if you ask me.

  • @MagicalSunrise1984 I can't help it..I just love it...even then they play it with the whine and modulations in the singer's voices!

  • @Ellatha1

yes, that's very true - it's great music!

  • @MagicalSunrise1984 Sometimes it's still relevant even if you are a person who does NOT appreciate traditions.

  • @nidaroon858

it does sound like a great mixture

and thanks StormKat30 for the explanation for this creation of beautiful mixture

  • @Ellatha1

traditional music is always relevant if you are a person that appreciate traditions

  • @thesebananatrees

alzheimer is such an interesting disease - it sheds light on the complexity of the human mind, of perception, memory and the way people experience conciousness

great story - thank you for sharing!

  • this is NOT greek axent.......just saying...
