@Sarael72 Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo is a Bhikshuni. This level of ordination is not found in Tibetan Buddhism, so she took ordination in, probably, the Chinese tradition. (Bhikshuni ordination is only offered in Chinese and Vietnamese traditions). Part of the ordination ceremony is to take the Bodhisattva Vows. A monastic who takes these vows has 3 cone incence burned on their head, leaving a small scar. I don't believe this is being done within the past 10 or so years.
