In a letter dated September 29, 2008, Chad Hardy, producer of the infamous Men on a Mission Calendars and www.MormonsExposed.com website, received a letter from Mormon-owned Brigham Young University informing him that he had been deleted from his August 15, 2008 graduation, and would not be awarded his BA degree in Communication Studies because of he was excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 13, 2008, a month before graduation.

All of his required coursework had already been completed prior to the church discipline, and was not required to abide by the schools strict Honor Code because he finished his coursework online from his home in Las Vegas, NN. His only recourse given to get his diploma was to come back to full fellowship with the LDS Church.

Brigham Young University failed to follow their own policies and procedures in disciplining Hardy and revoking his degree. This series of videos are the actual recording from the official University Review with BYU Dean of Students, Vernon Heperi.

Two weeks later, Hardy was denied an exception from BYU policy and will not be awarded his degree.

  • the dean cant do ask anything about why he was excommunicated. thats between chad and the his stake presidency. so when chad tells him he only wants to talk about why he was excommunicated the dean cant really do anything.

  • I really thought Chad made a good case. A technicality seemed to get him and they seem to be within their legal means to withold his degree. I didn't like how the Dean was spinning the questions, but I understand he has his job to consider. Also, there is no doubt that it's obvious Chad was being difficult and not helping his case whatsoever. I don't believe they would have given him his degree if he had "passed" the Dean's interview anyways...

  • It's obvious, right or wrong, that BYU and the church is connected together like two peas in a pod. Anything in the church affects him as a student. Anything as a student affects him as a church member.

  • Chad is being difficult on purpose to try to stir up dirt. They gave him a number of opportunities to grant an exception so he could receive his degree. It's clear at this point he didn't even want the exception, he just wants to be difficult, all the while claiming he was treated unfairly.

  • Simple question chad... .were you honest or not?

Were you dishonest outside of BYU? Stepping onto campus changes your honestly level? Sounds like you're a really solid individual.

  • Escape New Jersey should state his name. I will discover so much crap about his life it will make your head spin...That is what is wrong with LDS...you imply that you are without sin...Lots of people know better:)

  • Chad got hosed and this guy doesnt understand the root of the problem.

  • Because a Mormon is a Momron in every aspect of life and who you are ouside of school is one of the criteria to be admitted to the University.

  • I love you, CHADWICK!!! I miss you, and I support u 100%!!!!!
