Dick Grayson was the BEST Robin. Not only did he perform the Robin character very well by contrasting Batman's grimness, he became his own indepedent viglante when he transformed into Nightwing and outshined the other Robins when he took on the mantle of Batman. Not to mention, Grayson is a strong character with great leadership qualities, seeing as he was the only Robin to be a truly successful leader to the Titans and Outsiders.
