This aircraft (G-EUNA) is the first of two Airbus A318 aircraft that British Airways are going to use from London City Airport to New York JFK. The aircraft was doing flight testing for much of the day. The services to New York start from 29th September 09.

  • In light of the absence of Concorde, BA were very smart to offer this niche market another choice for exclusivity, luxury, and convenience. The LCY/JFK rotations have proven profitable.

  • @hotelgulf That is true. Concorde will remain as one of the most, if not the most iconic airliner of all time. It's good to hear that the route is doing well. I wonder if in perhaps another couple of years whether British Airways will order some more A318's for other routes to the Eastern Coast of the USA like Boston, or on routes like Dubai and the Middle East :D

  • hkgspotter1, I think I do know what I am talking about. The Airbus A318 is a very small aircraft, sized specifically for flights from airports like London City for example. The nickname for this aircraft can also be 'BabyBus' because it is so small. The aircraft did commit a go around, as it was for training. As for the video being squashed, I can reassure you that my camera is fine. However, please remember that other people also need to have their own opinion on the video.

  • The Airbus A318 is very short, it is much shorter than that of an Airbus A319.

  • @madmouse71 You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. These A318 are operated as all-business-class aircraft (32 seats) and operate from London City in order to provide a reliable and convenient connection between London's and New York's financial districts. One of the best ideas BA ever had was to find such an unusable but profitable and highly appreciated (by the customers) use for that aircraft. What you can use an aircraft for is not written in stone.

  • Why would they use a318s?!?! That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard from BA! A318s are small and cramped and are supposed to be usedfor short, regional flights not international flights!!

  • I wa son that 1st flight to jfk

  • Why all the arguing guys? If you are lucky enough to go on the BA318 from LCY to JFK post your vids from the other side of the aircraft window, if not watch, give respect and Google any other questions you have.

  • how long runway needed for the Airbus A318 at the time of takeoff and landing

    thanks before.

  • @hkgspotter1 im sorry but you boviously dont know what your talking about because each and every airline has their own base training area and london city is no airlines base training facility this go-around is for a purpose (not training)

  • If you dont know what you are talking about you should not comment on the video.

Not sure whats wrong with the video but its very squashed.

How can a plane go-around if the engines do NOT increase in power????? They HAVE TO as they apply power to make the plane climb. This is just a training flight, not an emergency.
