For IB English p,3. A video investigation as to how WWII might have prompted Albert Camus to become an absurdist. The main point I took away from absurdism was not that life was ridiculous or humorous, but that the end result was all the same, death and nothingness. Thus absurdism shows that life is a joke because it tricks humans into believing there is something more. Albert Camus, as an absurdist, still believed life was worth living, however, simply for the beauty that could be found in it. As with all philosophies and beliefs, whether or not you agree with it, it can be noted that there are some valid ideas - take time to enjoy the beauty of life instead of fussing over the unknown.
Note: I do not support or endorse absurdism, this video and the comments are merely an intellectual foray into how one of the foremost absurdist authors came into his views. The statements in the film regarding WWII were found on wikipedia, and not meant to be offensive. Some statements (not the statistics) are exaggerated in order to show how depressed Camus might have become over the war (all speculation).
The clips used are from the Italian film adaption of the stranger and various clips of occupied France during WWII. The song is a cover of Dust in the Wind by Madeline Siano. The haiku is not original, but I do not currently have knowledge of its source. The video was created by Elissa Niccum.
Thanks for watching,
Life is meaningless. yes, it truly is. however if we were wise enough, humble enough, kind enough to allow the life to flow through us without complaints, without emotions, without intellects, and quite down we might be able to enjoy a bit of peace that surrounds us.

Very sobering and powerfully illustrating the futility, vanity of war and this life. The bible book of Solomon noted the same things Camus did. That all is vanity.
