congrats on the new bike, i dont know Birmingham at all as i have never been there nor dont know of any mountain biking spots in the local area but street riding is a very good way to practise skills, stairs and ledges are best, good way to test out your suspension

PLEASE HELP:
I've just ordered a Carrera Banshee full suspension with front and back lock-out - can't wait to use it, but living in the urban jungle that is Birmingham,UK - I've got hardly any real experience taking it off road .. what kind of rides should a novice like me take before I can take jumps and go fast on a rough downhill?

ae iz great they have just made a new bit at the bottom of the downhill track ! there not racing the stepdown and elavater next race as the falls are to big ): up there al the time as i just live in the village!
