I guess I'm doing okay because I'm already doing the things he's talking about here. Well, that's good..... One less thing.
I've actually learned an awful lot over the years from guys like Haynes and David Grissom..... mostly-regarding pick-attack, vibrato, string-control, and that sort of thing, however I've also learned a lot about slide-playing from him.
He's right about playing with other people/playing in front of an audience. Best way to learn improvisation, timing and dynamics.
