We had just arrived at the railroad park in Rochelle, IL on our second day. We hear a horn...and it's the CNW heritage unit, UP 1995, leading an intermodal train westwards towards Global III. And they even gave us a shave and a haircut! :)

  • Lucky Catch! Do you ever railfan in the Elmhurst (Global 2 area)?

  • Thanks. No, I haven't. This was my only time railfanning in Illinois so far.

  • haha the "yes"

  • Lol, I know...what a dork I am!

  • I heard you whisper "yes." Good job. I still have yet to see my first heritage unit.

  • Lol, I hadn't noticed that before. I had seen 1995 the previous day as well, and that was my first heritage unit. We also saw 1982 as a DPU on a train while in Rochelle, but no video of that.

  • So far, I've only seen the 1982 and 1988. Didn't get a picture or video of the 1988, but I did snap a shot of 1982 with my cell. I need to get it transferred to my comp and post it. Awesome video!

  • Lmao, I remember when I caught the Katy with CNW 8701, i said something along the lines of "Oh my god" haha.

  • @kelbym07 same with m

  • had a good horn then

  • Does shave and haircut mean the locos are clean?

  • wow great catch Jessica!

  • awesome video

  • the only thing those heritage units are missing is a heritage horn, think about it,the SP and the rio grande with a P3 and an M3H,the mopac with lets say a 1st gen prime PM920,the katy with an S5T and the western pacific with an S5D,(if they can find one, only 2 of this are known to still exist)CNW used M3's and S3L's as well,i can only dream of it...............

  • really, EMD is obviously more efficient, but the railroads like GE because its cheaper to repair, less parts i think. and everyone has bought into global warming hook, line, and sinker, and GE is supposed to be "eco-friendly". what the hell does eco-friendly even mean???
