Christmas is near!
Not sure how many parts this one shot will be but I was inspired :)

Demi's POV.

I walk out of the store, being pummeled by the snow coming down the sky and floating until they reach the cold ground. I held the shopping bags and began to walk down the sidewalk, towards home. The Christmas lights lit up the roads and as I'm about to cross the street, I hear cries. They weren't familiar but I look beside me and see a teenage boy, who was about my age, maybe older, carrying a baby. The baby was hitched on his hip but he couldnt get it to stop crying. The teenage boy was wearing a black ripped-up jacket with a beanie on his head. My eyes travel down to his feet where he was wearing worn-out converse shoes. He had a backpack on, unzipped, with a pink baby blanket almost falling out. The baby, on the other hand, had a small lavender coat on, with mittens and her own pair of pink boots, both worn-out as well. She had on a red and green beanie. While struggling with the baby, the boy was also holding some shopping bags.
"Hold on, Hailey," the boy groans and shifts the baby onto his other side.
I just stood there, watching them as people push pass me. It was a week before Christmas.
The baby, Hailey, continues to cry. Maybe he was babysitting? Maybe this was his sister? Or it could be his daughter.. But in a way, he must be in high school, just like me. I was a senior. What was he doing with a baby? It starts snowing again and this makes the baby cry even harder.
"Sweetie, we'll be home and warm in a few seconds, just.." he trails off, fumbling with the shopping bags. The baby's beanie falls to the ground and the boy swears.
Thinking it would be a hassle for him, I walk over and pick it up for him. I try to give it to him, but with his hands full, I look at the baby and give her a smile before leaning up to put the beanie back onto her head. With that, she stops crying, looking right at me.
"Hi, there," I greet, offering my hand to her and she grabs it, wrapping her small hand around mine. I laugh, loving the feeling of her tiny hand around mine. It felt comforting to me. I look up and the boy's eyes meet mine.
Right then and there, I noticed his gorgeous brown eyes. I was caught in a trance, staring into them.
"It looked like you had a lot on your hands already and you needed help," I ramble. The baby finally lets go of my hand and I lean down to pick up my own shopping bags. Just as I was about to turn to leave, the baby reaches her arms out to me.
The boy shifts her, again, onto the other side of him and starts to walk away, while the baby begs for me, turning around in the boy's arms. She was screaming now. I caught up to them.
"She's so cute," I point out, looking at the baby and she stops crying.
"Thanks. She's a handful.. but I love her," he tells me, stepping onto the crosswalk. I wanted to know more about this guy and this baby; I didnt care if I'd be home past my curfew or that we're going in the opposite direction from my house.
"Is she your daughter?" I hesitate.
We start to walk down another street and he looks over and nods, not saying more. This time, one of the baby's mittens fall off of her hand and I automatically lean down to pick it up, putting it back onto her tiny hand that held mine just minutes ago.
"Thanks," he mumbles.
"Where you headed?"
"Back to our apartment." I was feeling like he wanted me to go away but instead, he asks, "Could you do me a favor?"
"Sure."
"Could you, maybe, hold these shopping bags for a sec? My arms are cramping and we've been walking for a long time."
I take his shopping bags from him, which allows him some space to stretch his arms. He was about to take the bags back from me but I held onto them.
"Where do you live?" The baby hides her face in Joe's neck and giggles, her eyes red from her crying.
"We're almost there," the boy tells me.
"I'll walk you."
"You don't have to."
"But I want to."
From there on, we walked past houses filled with Christmas lights and Christmas trees in them.
Minutes later, the boy stops at an old building and fumbles with his keys. Once he got the door unlocked, it creaks open, revealing a staircase.
"Hailey and I live on the fifth floor and its a lot of stairs," he tells me.
"I'll walk you up," I say. I didn't want to leave this baby.
"You know, you're being really nice," he says as we step in.
"Its Christmas.. it's the most happiest time of the year," I tell him as we walk up the stairs. With that, I see his eyes turn sad.
"Right. Christmas," he breathes.
Once we get to the 5th floor, I'm breathing hard and so is he. But Hailey was doing just fine, laughing all the way. The boy takes his keys out again and opens up the door.
He turns to me, "Would you like to come in? I could fix you up something to drink.. its the least I can do."
I look at the baby again, then at him. "I'd like that."
