Public Opinion in Our Democracy (Highlights) 1950

This wonderful Coronet film uses the backdrop of a fictitious ballot initiative involving having the City run the town's transportation system (GTA) as opposed to privatizing it, to demonstrate why it's important to vote! We here at ThinkStream films have yet to see this early an example of voting persuasion in educational films and are delighted to present it!

Of special note is the character of Mrs. Blake who, when asked her opinion about the initiative, declares, "My opinion? Oh.... I usually leave things like that to my husband." (!!!) Also, a depiction of the town's fictitious paper siding with the City and printing persuasive articles on the city's behalf! Yellow journalism and propaganda at the onset of the 1950s: Who could ask for anything more?!
