The guards are ARMY only 3rd Infantry, "The Old Guard". The Soldiers buried at the Tomb are unknowns from WW1, WW2, and the Korean War. In 1998 the Vietnam soldier was identified and Congress stated in 1999 that no more Soldiers will be buried at the Tomb. The Guard here says "IT IS REQUESTED THAT ALL VISITORS REMAIN BEHIND THE CHAINS AND RAILS". Also they can swear, and they can drink and do anything allowed by law that does no disgrace their post or the Army. These are facts. Also they cannot shoot you, although you can be detained and arrested. Do not leave objectional or moronic comments no one will see them and you WILL BE BLOCKED. Thank you for visiting.

  • what exactly is the tomb of unknowns. who is it for, ive been to the one in washinton but not sure, is it for the dead soldiers with high rank??

  • @theonlyashleybrooks1 The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a place where unidentified Soldiers are buried from the Korean War, World Wars 1 and 2. there was previously a Vietnam Soldier buried there but his body was identified through DNA, and that tomb will now remain empty. The tomb is to honor all the American Soldiers that were killed in action and could not be identified. Their ranks are not known because they are "UNKNOWN SOLDIERS"

  • is he picking something up that blew into the area? I think i see him grabbing a paper cup maybe?

  • @perryinjax He dropped his water bottle and then when trying to retrieve it kicked it out onto the walk.

  • Only the US military could get dressed up in best military attire THEN wear Sunglasses! What next Chewing Gum? Very sloppy!

  • @samthegreencat47 Marching in the Virginia sun in the middle of Summer with Marble all around you, I wonder why they wear sunglasses.

  • People...it's called TRADITION AND RESPECT...unless you've been in the military, most of you will never get it...

  • Which situation would be more favorable for the soldiers - this guy crossing the rail to pick up his trash, or not owning up to it and letting the trash roll/blow to the feet of the soldiers?

  • My question is this: what would have happened if the visitor had simply let the (water bottle?) roll away from him? What if it rolled into the path of the guard?

  • if he didn't go back then he would have been escorted by the police and possibly to jail.he shouldn't have picked it up in my opinion

  • I was scared s**tless just watching this. the tone in their voices..jeeez.

  • I love how the guard looks like he is ready to charge when he see's the guy.

  • I have great respect for all of those who have stood that post.

  • So I understand the responsibility of the guards, but what if something accidentally falls and blows into the area. Or do you have so sign something swearing that won't happen?
