I need a really sharp knife for cutting a bitch up
-
@Striker51z Use ultra-fine steel wool (4/0 - 8/0) to polish the metal with minimal weight loss. Also use either Goo-Gone or WD-40 to remove buildup. GooGone will remove tree residue and WD-40 helps remove rust and produce a nice, shiny finish.

"Razor sharp cutting is not really what a pocket knife is for"
Seriously? Are you fucking stupid? Judging by your inability to distinguish between the intended use of knives (cutting) and prybars (digging out nails or screws), I'm going to assume yes.

About how much oil do you need, looked about a drop there?

"a pocket knife doesn't need to shave somebody"

Although informative, I'm pretty sure this man is a serial killer!

A: I want my pocket knife razor sharp, after all its for cutting. B: I don't use my knife to pry out nails or dig out screws, after all its for cutting. C: I do cut paper as a test to make sure my knife is sharp, after all its for cutting. C: your an assclown. :)

A pocketknife for digging out nails or screws? Really? I think I might try a screwdriver or a claw hammer first.

@BlackAngusYoung I guess I dislike Goo-Gone just because I find it seems to leave an oily residue, but I guess on a knife blade that wouldn't matter.
If worried about adhesive, wouldn't it be better to use the goo-gone before the stone? And isn't it always better to use naphtha lighter fluid instead of goo-gone?

@BlackAngusYoung Cleaning before using your stone would be best. I prefer Goo-Gone, but naptha, or many other solvents could be used.

I have a knife that has the main Cut on one side with just a really small edge on the other. Does that change how it should be sharpened?

@Imaslipper Yes - you should follow the existing pattern/blade angles, if you're pleased with the knife's performance. You could also balance the two sides for a different cut.

@mobsterbillyjoe That's fine - it's personal preference.
