If you "Wiki" Joe Weatherly, at the bottom of the page, it shows his car after the crash. His car is incredibly flat on the drivers side.

I don't think Joe Weatherly had a choice. NASCAR did not mandate seat belts, because there were no seat belts. and like the other blog wrote. It took NASCAR 7-yrs to mandate the window net. Most cars in those days did not have seat belts. My Uncle's '64 Chevy C-10 did not come with seat belts. Have a nice day!

Weatherly most likely only died because he didn't believe in wearing a seat belt.

Well getting killed comes with racing sometimes. And i doubt he would have survived tiday either people like senna still got killed and their cars are alot better equipt for crashing. You can die in a slow crash because you can tear arterys internally and not know then go home to bed and die in your sleep. So its all just blind luck wether or not you live or not.
