This is the second movement of Gustav Holst's First Suite in Eb for Military Band. This was performed by EVJOYWE before their trip to Austria.

  • cant even here the trumpet solos.

  • Our highschool band is playing it. I loove the song. I always imagine a bunny with a sword hoppin' around a meadow at night looking out for gremlins and gnomes that are tryin' to get 'im.

  • we are playing this in band now and its so sweet. no lie

  • A lot better than how we're playing, I'd say...XD We're improving though, and we're pretty good for a buncha 8th/7th graders...XD

  • The brass is rather flat, but the articulation is very good... the big run about 30 secs in was too soft... the solo clari is a little flat but has a beautiful tone, so does the flute... shame about the trumpet theme, it makes me cry when it is performed flawelessly...

It is overall a good performance, my only criticism is that certain sections need to be louder/softer etc

  • omg I am playing this in band, and me and my best friend have the duet at 1:11 and it is so exciting.... lol

  • Wow. They were really out of tune!

  • My comment:

The flute section is over-powering in this piece (the solo flute, the most).

Sometimes... ok, be serious, EVERY section thinks they are the best, and the others are wanna-bees (that's part of the fun of being IN band..the silly rivalries).

The director MUST be in charge and say, "others MUST be heard! YOU, check your ego at the door and play QUIETER!"

That's what I would have done here.

    But... Good Performance!

  • Let me preface this by saying:

    1) I'm a band director.

    2) This is my favorite band piece - so have heard this piece MANY times over!

    3) I'm a flute player- so ALWAYS partial to flute sections.

  • We only played the Movement 1 and 3 so I've never heard this, it's realy goo dthough!
