Cross country flying in a Diamond Star DA40 TDI - G-CDEK from Shoreham (EGKA)- Rochester (EGTO)and back. It was a very windy day and on approach to Rochester we were warned of severe wind shear. Watch out for a very near bird strike on touchdown back at Shoreham.

  • It was the stall warner on the aircraft which sound when approaching the stall speed of 59Kts.

  • why would you go flying if there was severe windshear?

    jw

  • Windshear wasnt forecast, at rochester you only seem to get windshear on approach, on a very short final at less than 50ft it tends to be much smoother.

  • Yea, only its not about speed, its about the amount of airflow over the wing. you can stall at 100kts or whatever speed. Its not airspeed, its the angle of attack ...

  • About time you started again. :-) Happy flying.

  • what was that crazy sound when you landed at Roachester? it was like someone charming a snake

  • and apparently the runup check was not into the wind...

  • Some good views and a nice landing, very smooth considering the wind! Nicely flown and edited, so 5* from me.

  • I think i just saw my house!
