Garrison Dam release into the Missouri River with a flow of 130,000 cubic feet per second on June 8, 2011. This video also shows the spillway that was opened for the first time in history last week. It takes an estimated 30-36 hours for this water to arrive in the Bismarck-Mandan, N.D. area. About 850 North Dakota National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are on duty assisting with flooding operations in the Bismarck-Mandan area. (Video by Maj Gen David Sprynczynatyk, N.D. National Guard)

@traveldoode369 Yes, these are controlled releases. They are being released from the dam because of the great amount of water coming into the system from record snowpacks. The dam is fully functional and under control. Visit the US Corps of Engineers website for more information.

Thanks for the updated videos! Sometime when you're back up to Garrison Dam, how about a shot panned out to show the breadth between the spillway on the east and the tunnels on the west?
