Electronic House has picked their Homes of the Year 2010, including the Best Home Theaters. In the $50,000-$100,000 category, the winner is a former flooded basement turned disco theater, with a 130" 2:35 Cine-W curved screen from Stewart Filmscreen, and built-in Netflix streaming. The $100,000-$250,000 winner includes studio-grade-quality Genelec speakers, motorized seats, a three-chip DLP Runco projector with a 132" Stewart Filmscreen, and a separate Runco 50-inch plasma. The $250,000+ winner includes a dusk-to-dawn time lapsed constellation-filled sky ceiling, chairs with frosted glass LED-lit cupholders, a 350-pound, 3.5-inch thick door to isolate the room from sound, a 174-inch screen with 4-way masking... plus a companion seat for the dog. Watch the video for all the details on these elaborate setups you only wish you could afford.
If money was no object, I would buy a small island and make the worlds largest home theater.

Im gonna make a trillion dollar home theater that will not have 3D but a holodeck instead! I will install the warp 5 engine at a later date and i'll hire Captian Archer and Ensign Mayweather to helm the ship. T'pol will help me "warm-up" my universal remote when the lights go out!!!

Where's the Eyefinity? The custom Light Fusion screens (Mississippi Mud)? BFD TLAH line array, transmission line and horn-loaded enclosures? BFD THT subwoofers? 3D DLP projectors?
Bah, humbug... so last century.
