Don, I dont have the best GPA in teh world. its below 2.5 how can i still be confident at an interview or career fair or avoid the question. whats your gpa?
I've had over 20 professional jobs in my career and never once was I asked my GPA.
I don't know you can avoid getting asked the question. If GPA is a metric they use when hiring candidates, then you'll have to come clean. But if they ask, tell them, and then have a short story to explain it, or better have a story as to why you have the right experience for the job and downplay the significance of gpa.
Many times GPA will not be at the top of their list of questions. It all depends on the type of job. Medical field, attorneys, teaching, that kind of stuff is where your GPA will come into play.

GPA does not mean anything. There are millions of Americans with high GPA in college that are lazy and incompetent in the real world. As for the medical field, yeah, if u slacked in med school that is the exception.
